WOODVILLE — Services for Pierrine Charlotte Claudine Cabral Bedgood, 71, a long-time resident of Pinckneyville, who died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at her home, Greenwood Plantation, after a three-year struggle with ovarian cancer, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Plantation under the direction of Brown Funeral Home in Gloster.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mrs. Bedgood was born March 15, 1938, in New Orleans, the daughter of Peter Charles Claude Cabral Jr. and Cornelia Evans Brandon Cabral. She was a business woman, amateur historian and an avid genealogist. In her time she raised cattle, bread horses, promoted conservation and worked for several charitable causes. A patriot and believer in civic involvement, she supported U.S. military personnel overseas and U.S. military veterans at home.
Mrs. Bedgood was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodville for over 33 years. To promote the recognition and achievements of Wilkinson County natives, she founded and funded the Governor George Brandon Award. She was a member of Fort Adams Women’s Club, Robert Ruffin Chapter of the Colonial Dames of the XVII Century, Alexander Stirling Chapter, Louisiana Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Louisiana Colonials Society, Huguenot Society of New Orleans, Woodville Civic Club and Wilkinson County Museum.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Alvin Paul Bedgood.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin J. Bedgood of Tampa, Fla., and Harry B. Bedgood of Kernersville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Bedgood and Brandon Tyler Bedgood, both of Kernersville, and Amanda Rae Morris of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Cornelia Frances Brandon Cabral Quinn of New Orleans; one niece, Cornelia Brandon Quinn Romero of Lafayette, La.
