NATCHEZ — Multiple shots fired on Brenham Avenue ended in an on-foot chase and the arrest of one teenager.
Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday, a police unit was dispatched to Brenham Avenue, where it was reported a car drove by and fired multiple shots at the victim, who was sitting in his front yard.
Police spotted the silver Chevy Malibu in connection with the shooting on D’Evereux Drive parking at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts.
Two suspects jumped out of the vehicle and began to run, Mullins said.
The first suspect was LaKendrix Montrell Lewis, 17, of Woodville, who was arrested running in front of the police department.
Lewis is being charged as an adult with aggravated assault.
A warrant is out on a second suspect, Michael Hensley, 18, who is also wanted for aggravated assault.
Police recovered a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver in the Malibu, which came back as stolen, Mullins said.
“We have evidence there is another weapon that was used also,” he said.
Mullins said there is an alleged ongoing argument between the suspects and the victim.
