NATCHEZ — Services for Ophelia Anderson, 95, of Natchez, who died Monday, June 8, 2009, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilderness Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Anderson was born Dec. 19, 1913, in Natchez, the daughter of Jessie McCaleb and Laura McCaleb. She was educated in Adams County and was employed by Natchez Pecan Factory until it closed. She was a loving mother and housewife. She loved to cook.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of Wilderness Baptist Church and served as a mother of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnny “Bud” Anderson; one daughter, Velma Williams; three sisters and their husbands, Florida Wilkes and husband, Fate, Willie B. Faulkner and husband, James, and Launtee McCaleb; and one grandson, Joseph Williams.
Survivors include six grand-nephews, Johnny McCaleb, Kijuan Dukes, Ricardo Dukes, Antonio, Joseph Jr., and Naja; 10 grand-nieces, Velma Dukes, Rashonda Davis, Augustine McCaleb, Rachel Primm, Jaleesa, Chasity, Sharline, Brittany, DeKayla and Skyler; eight great-great-grandchildren, Akia, Kijuan Jr., Kiren, Eriel, Jasmine, Jarine, D.J., and Lila; and a number of cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Kijuan Dukes, Johnny McCaleb, Kenneth Washington, Anthony Edwards, John Edwards Sr., John Edwards Jr. and Ken Win.
