Parachute flyers enjoy the Miss-Lou

Hot-air balloon pilots have known for years that the Miss-Lou is a wonderful sight from hundreds of feet up.
But this weekend, a group of powered parachute flyers discovered the good news.
Approximately 50 pilots spent the weekend at the Concordia Parish Airport — and in the skies.
We know they enjoyed the sites, and we hope they enjoyed their stay.
But the colorful skies this weekend weren’t the only great news. Let’s review some of the good things that happened last week.
Natchez is a tight-knit community, even on the road. A group of Natchez residents living in the Chicago area has begun meeting together periodically to reminisce about the old days, keep up with friends and offer support. The Natchez alumni association of sorts can become great ambassadors for their home, and we are happy they have formed.
Vidalia is cleaning things up with a new ordinance on the books. The Vidalia aldermen passed a junk ordinance last week, making it illegal to allow junk and other nuisance items to pile up in visible locations. Junk can clog up an entire community, and we are glad Vidalia has recognized that one person’s trash can rob us all of a treasure.
Bubba McKinley, 17, isn’t taking the summer off. The Boy Scout is working on his Eagle by building a pavilion on the campus of Copiah-Lincoln Community College. It’s great to see our young people giving back, and we wish McKinley luck on his project.
As the official start of the summer season approaches, we know with the heat will come great news.
