BROOKHAVEN — Services for George Brown, 77, of Bogue Chitto, who died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, will be at 2 p.m. today at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Montgomery Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Brown was born Sept. 21, 1931, in Lincoln County, the son of Jim Brown and Lizzie Prestridge Brown. He worked in the bleach plant at International Paper Company for 42 years. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Louise Brown Laird and Maxine Brown Kelly; and four brothers, Talmage, James, Ira and Troy Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Shiela M. Brown; one son, Michael S. Brown of Jackson; one daughter, Cheryl Brown Ezell and husband, Eddie, of Waxahachie, Texas; two brothers, Robert Brown and wife, Margie, of Natchez and Truitt Brown and wife, Ernestine, of Brookhaven; one sister, Gynell Brown Bonds of Baton Rouge; three sisters-in-law, Rowena Clark Brown of Brookhaven, Kathryn Freeman Brown of Bogue Chitto and Matt Huckaby Brown of Moss Point; one granddaughter, Kim Pointer and husband, Shawn, of Gulfport; two grandsons, Michael Brown of Brandon and Timothy Ezell of Waxahachie; and a number of nieces and nephews.
