NATCHEZ – Services for Verline Oten, 93, of Natchez, who died Monday, June 15, 2009, at Crown Health and Rehab, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John United Methodist Church with the Rev. J.D. Tillman officiating.
Burial will follow at LaGrange Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of R.D. Mackel and Sons.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Mrs. Oten was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Waterproof, La., the daughter of Robert Mitchell and Elmira Tences Mitchell.
She was a private duty nurse and mother of the church.
Mrs. Oten was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Feltus Oten; grandson, Vernel Marable; and six siblings.
Survivors include three daughters, Charlyne Oten of Natchez, Lucinda Washington and husband, Elijah, both of Chicago and Nanna Oten of Detroit; one son, Feltus Oten of Detroit; eight grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; special niece, Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
