FERRIDAY — A domestic disturbance call ended Tuesday when a Ferriday man was charged with the growth of a 5-foot-tall marijuana plant.
Ferriday police responded to the call at 201 South Sixth St., at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday.
The owner of the apartment had called the police to complain of a disturbance she was having with Cortlant Flournoy, 27, of the same address, Ferriday Assistant Chief Johnny Evans said.
Upon arrival, the officer observed that the materials necessary for the manufacture of marijuana were in the apartment, including marijuana seeds, fertilizer, grow pots and other drug paraphernalia, Evans said.
Once obtaining permission from the owner of the apartment to conduct a search, the officer found the large plant behind the apartment, near an abandoned house, Evans said.
Flourney was arrested and booked on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and cultivation of marijuana.
The police planned to go back and expand their search of the area later, Evans said.
No bond was set for Flourney Tuesday afternoon.
