TUPELO — Private services for Anneliese Herz Davis, 80, of Tupelo, who died Friday, July 17, 2009, at her daughter’s residence after an extended illness, will be today in the Louise Bland Chapel of First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Raigan Miskelly officiating.
Burial will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park under the direction of W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Davis was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Wiesbaden, Germany, the daughter of Karl and Maria Kling Herz. In 1949, she moved to Mississippi, settling in Natchez in 1960, where she raised her family and lived until her health began to decline. She then lived in Gulfport for six years before coming to Tupelo six months ago. She was a wonderful cook and was known for her homemade rolls which were served in area restaurants and bed and breakfasts of Natchez. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club and Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Karl and Heinz Herz; and one sister, Honneroe Herz.
Survivors include two daughters, Marianne Koberger and husband, Karl, of Gulfport and Elsie White and husband, Dr. Dick White, of Tupelo; two sons, Bill Davis and wife, Dottie, of Mandeville, La., and Chuck Davis and wife, Loran, of Newnan, Ga.; three sisters, Else McCarty of Garland, Texas, Lieselotte Roth and Erma Dieges, both of Germany; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Harrell and husband, Scott, of Mobile, Ala., Jason Koberger and wife, Jennifer, of Gulfport, Shelley Miller and husband, Jason, of Tupelo, Tracy Peters and husband, Silas, of Daphne, Ala., Amanda Davis of New Orleans, Will Davis, Rachel Davis and John Davis, all of Mandeville, Jordan Davis and Ross Davis, both of Newnan; four great-grandchildren, Evan and Emma Harrell of Mobile and Davis and Dylan Miller of Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
