NATCHEZ — Miss-Lou residents in need of rehabilitation therapy can take comfort in knowing it’s one medical service they won’t need to leave town for.
The rehabilitation center at Natchez Regional Medical Center was awarded the highest level of accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities approximately two weeks ago.
The program director for the center, Stephanie Rehms, said while there aren’t any other rehabilitation centers in the area, the next closest certified rehabilitation centers are in Baton Rouge and Jackson.
“It’s something we can be proud of,” Rehms said.
The center offers physical, speech, occupational and therapy.
Natchez Regional Senior Vice President Lana Morgan said while the certification doesn’t come with any accolades besides the accreditation, it’s a plus for the community.
“It’s good to know we can offer quality healthcare for this area,” Morgan said.
This year was the third year Regional received CARF accreditation.
The certification is valid for three years.
