Eunice Ellis

FAYETTE — Services for Eunice Marie Ellis, 72, of Fayette, who died Monday, July 13, 2009, at her residence, will be at noon Monday at Hollywood Baptist Church with the Rev. E.E. Colenberg Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Spencer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ellis was born Jan. 15, 1937, the daughter of Jonas and Zenada Jones of Fayette. To this union, three daughters and four sons were born. Mrs. Ellis attended Liddell High School in Fayette and was employed by Alcorn State University in food services. She was also employed by Charles Evers, former mayor of Fayette, in his private business.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age and was baptized by the late Rev. Juanita Tyler at Hollywood Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful usher, an honorary junior mother and was very active in the ministry until her health failed.
She met and married the love of her life, Charlie Ellis Sr., June 23, 1951, in Fayette. To this union, six beautiful children were born.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary James and Hazel Wallace; two brothers, Jessie James Sr. and Sam Jones; and one grandson, Kelvin “Mane” Ellis.
Survivors include her loving children, Charlie Ellis Jr. and wife, Joyce, of Natchez, Delories A. Ellis of Fayette, Bessie Ellis Larry and husband, Willie, of Bossier City, La., Evelyn Ellis Malone, Deborah A. Ellis and Terry Darnell Ellis, all of Fayette; one sister, Bessie Washington of Fayette; two brothers, Levi James of Fayette and the Rev. Willie James and wife, Patricia, of Ridgeland; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
