Jackson graduates with DNP degree

Memphis, Tenn. — On May 29, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center had graduation ceremonies fo 614 students.
Maybelle F. Jackson of Natchez, was one of 40 graduates from the college of nursing, where she earned a doctor of nursing practice degree.
The UTHSC College of Nursing is the leading producer of graduate nurses and nursing faculty for the region, and is nationally recognized as a change agent in nursing education.
Jackson received a bachelor of science in nursing from Alcorn State University and a master of science in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Her mother is Marie Fulton of Natchez.
Jackson is married to Elder Johnny R. Jackson, who also resides in Natchez, and she is employed by the VA Medical Center.
Dr. Hershel P. Wall, chancellor of the UT Health Science Center, presided over the ceremony and conferred the degrees. Gary Shorb, president and CEO of Methodist Healthcare, gave the commencement address to the graduates and their families.
The 614 graduates are from all six UTHSC colleges: 146 from allied health sciences; 81 from dentistry; 46 from graduate health sciences; 137 from medicine; 40 from nursing, and 164 from pharmacy.
