VIDALIA — A Vidalia man is accused of the felony theft of something intended to prevent just that — a safe.

Rickie M. Dalton, 60, 119 Clark Drive, was booked by Vidalia Police on charges of felony theft Thursday morning.

The police received a complaint that a safe had been stolen from in front of Power Safe and Lock, located at 101 Carter St., Police Chief Ronnie G. “Tapper” Hendricks said.

“We knew there was another safe there, and so we posted someone to watch that location, and (the suspect) returned to the scene of the crime to get the other one,” Hendricks said.

Dalton was detained without bond until magistration.
