OAK GROVE, La. — Services for Johnny David Brasher, 82, of Oak Grove, La., who died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, will be at 10 a.m. today at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Mike Howard officiating.
Burial will follow at Laran Cemetery in Laran, La., under the direction of Cox Funeral Home in Oak Grove.
Mr. Brasher was born Sept. 17, 1926, in El Dorado, Ark., the son of Joseph Thomas Brasher and Evie Jarrell Brasher.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Pauletta Brasher; one son, James William Brasher; his parents; three brothers, Ferry Brasher, George Brasher and Bobby Brasher; and seven sisters, Bessie Templeton, Beulah Murray, Eula Carter, Lois Glover, Georgia Dumas, Violet Willett and Maxine New.
Survivors include two sons, John D. Brasher Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Gainsville, Fla. and Paul Brasher and wife, Kim, of Brandon; five grandsons, Chad Brasher and wife, Celeste, of Meridian, Jason Brasher and wife, Kelly, of Lumberton, Texas, Alex Brasher of Jupiter, Fla., Bill Price of Denver, Colo., and Justin Brasher of Gainsville; one granddaughter, Ashley Stegall and husband, Billy, of Brandon; three sisters, Sarah “Tena” Jones of El Dorado, Margaret Jo Long and husband, Jimmy, of West Monroe, La., and Elizabeth Tubbs and husband, Paul, of Oak Grove; two sisters-in-law, Elna Brasher of Oak Grove and Francis Brasher of Mansfield, La.; and long-time companion, Sybil Brumley of Oak Grove; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Justin Brasher, Alex Brasher, Bill Price, Jason Brasher, Chad Brasher and Billy Stegall.
