GREENVILLE (AP) — Police say a 43-year-old Greenville firefighter has been arrested and charged with statutory rape in a case involving a 14-year-old girl.

Edwin Allen was arrested Friday by Leland and Greenville authorities.

Leland Police Lt. Tammie Hudson says the mother of the 14-year-old girl filed the charge after she learned that her daughter was pregnant and the girl allegedly identified Allen as the father. The alleged incident took place between April and May in Leland.

Allen was scheduled to make his first appearance in court on Monday.
