School may be in session, but summer isn’t over in the Miss-Lou.
Just like always, August is a hot time in the South. Temperatures crept upward last week, leaving many of us running for the air conditioner.
But we are used to the heat, right? Maybe, but regardless, a little heat can’t stop the good news in our community. Let’s review a few of the good headlines last week brought.
Three-year-old Jenna Birley is a happy, healthy, beautiful little girl. And this year, she has a job. Birley, a premature baby, is the ambassador for this year’s March of Dimes event coming in October. Birley was dangerously small and unhealthy at birth, but she’s beat the odds and serves as a great poster child for the good cause.
Local pilots gathered Saturday at the Natchez-Adams County Airport for a meet-and-greet fish fry. The relaxing event was meant to link area pilots who share a common love for the sky. Our local airport is a necessity for the growth and economic development we want and need, and we are lucky to have it.
Most local schools kicked of the 2009 football season this week, and many of them did it together. Natchez High School hosted Cathedral, Trinity and Wilkinson County at its jamboree, bringing the community together for a great night of sports action.
The real football season starts this week, and we know it will bring plenty of great news with it.
