NATCHEZ — Services for Floyd Wesley Costley, 90, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Promise Specialty Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Mitch Cockran officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Costley was born Aug. 13, 1919, in Harriston, the son of Floyd Wesley Costley Sr. and Zenobia Harrington Costley. He was retired from Illinois Central Railroad. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the European Theatre during World War II, having landed at Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He enjoyed camping where he traveled all over the United States and Canada. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Mr. Costley was a Mason.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Christine Costley; one daughter, Dianne Brown of Gray, La.; one grandson, Bobby Hensley of Durham, N.C.; two granddaughters, Michelle H. English of Thibodeaux, La., and Nichole Hensley of Austin, Texas; one brother, Elbert Costley; and one sister, Dorothy Ellefson, both of Monroe, La.
Pallbearers will be Grady Boykin, Grady Boykin Jr., D.W. McGraw, Robert E. Beard Sr., Jim Cotten and Ernest Barlow.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Sumrall and J.B. Whitehead.
Memorials may be made to Lovely Lane United Methodist Church.
