LORMAN — The four-faced clock tower atop the Oakland Memorial Chapel was recently installed with a digital bell system affectionately named The Alumni Bells. These “bells” will chime each hour and at noon play the Alcorn Ode, reproducing the full richness and harmonics of blended tones and partials that can only be created with real cast bronze bells. “It is our hope that The Alumni Bells will be an opportunity to forever remind alumni and friends of Alcorn’s rich tradition when they walk the campus and hear the bells”, Stephen McDaniel, vice president for development and marketing/executive director.
