Local band battling for top spot, raising money for Best Buddies

Natchez — A Miss-Lou based band has been picked to complete in the Best Buddies Louisiana battle of the bands in Baton Rouge.
Blue Haired Mafia will perform at LaCarreta Mexican restaurant on Sept. 17. Performances begin at 5 p.m. The restaurant is located at 4065 Government St. in Baton Rouge.
Blue Haired Mafia is comprised of band members from both Natchez and Vidalia. Band members are Marvin Morehead, John Cooper, Clyde Revoir and Ben O’Gwyn.
They play a mixture of blues, rock and country music.
Fans of the band can vote online prior to the event at www.bestbuddieslouisiana.org for $1 per vote. All the money raised will benefit Best Buddies Louisiana, a non-profit organization aimed at providing friendship and educational opportunities to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Best Buddies is an international program founded in 1989. Currently there are over 1,400 chapters across the country and on six continents.
The program is active in all 50 states. It is a volunteer-based program that strives to create one-to-one friendships between those with disabilities and those without.
