VIDALIA — Next Thursday, Feed the Hungry will be raising funds by feeding the hungry with jambalaya.
For the 11th year in a row, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office and Feed the Hungry will have a jambalaya fundraiser.
The $5 per plate meal will include jambalaya, potato salad, a roll and cookies.
The meals can be picked up at the Feed the Hungry site at First Assembly of God in Vidalia, located at 4810 U.S. 84, and Feed the Hungry Director Bonnette said volunteers would deliver meals as well.
“We prefer an order of five or more to deliver, but if somebody needs one we will get it to them,” she said.
The sheriff’s office provides the food for the fundraiser, and Feed the Hungry provides to-go plates, deli paper, utensils and packets of hot sauce, Linda Bonnette said.
“It doesn’t even cost us $200,” she said. “We are really blessed in that it is going to be almost all profit.”
The group doesn’t have a set goal for how much it wants to raise.
“We don’t have a certain amount in mind, we are just very appreciative of whatever we get,” Bonnette said.
Feed the Hungry distributes food to needy families, giving a box of approximately 50 pounds of food to each recipient each month.
“Feed the Hungry is an extremely worthwhile program,” Concordia Parish Sheriff Randy Maxwell said in a news release. “This is an organization that our entire community should support all year long in order to help those who are less fortunate.
“We’re hoping that individuals and business people will call in and order for themselves and their friends at work. It’s a great lunch for a fantastic cause.”
To place an order, contact First Assembly of God Pastor Greg Fain at 318-336-8748 or Bonnette at 318-336-2428. Orders are needed early to determine how much to prepare.
