Jimmie Wailes

JACKSON — Services for Jimmie Dennis Wailes, 88, who died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Chapel on High Street.
Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.
A native of Hinds County, Jimmie was the daughter of James Willis Dennis and Ethel Marble Dennis. She graduated from MSCW, married C.S. Wailes, and they had two children. She was employed by the State of Mississippi in Jackson for more than 30 years.
In the 1960s, Mrs. Wailes became interested in family history, and with increasing diligence and success over the years became an accomplished genealogist.
She devoted countless hours to assisting others who relied on her expertise, enthusiasm and keen interest in genealogy.
For more than 50 years, Jimmie lovingly cared for her disabled husband, C.S. Wailes.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Survivors include her son, Dr. S.N. Wailes; her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen Wailes Luter and Dwight K. Luter; and two grandchildren, Brandon Wailes Luter and Jason Segrest Luter.
