MEADVILLE — Memorial services for Silvia Greer Williams, 74, of Meadville, who died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meadville Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Riverwood Funeral Home in Brookhaven.

Mrs. Williams was born May 11, 1935, in Boyle, the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. L.T. Greer. She was a graduate of Pearl High School and Mississippi College with a degree in elementary education and music.

Mrs. Williams taught in the public schools in Yazoo City, Meridian and Ferriday where she met and married her husband, Ray “Pete” Williams. They moved to North Platte, Neb., where she taught until her retirement. In 2008, the Lord led Silvia and Pete back to Mississippi where they continued to serve the Lord with gladness at the Meadville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Raymond “Butch” Greer.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Pete Williams; one stepdaughter, Angel Lindsey and husband, Terry; two step-grandchildren, Rachel and Mac Lindsey of Vidalia; one sister, Pauline Greer Corban and husband, Mickey, of Pearl; one brother, Billy Greer and wife, Carolyn, of Vicksburg; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Silvia was a devoted Christian and served her Lord with her musical talents wherever she lived.
