Christmas week filled with cheer

With Christmas behind us and a whole new year on the horizon, we hope this holiday time has been a great one so far for everyone out there.
News tends to slow a bit around the holiday, but the good news in the Miss-Lou just doesn’t stop. Let’s review a few good headlines Christmas week brought to us all.
The Santa Claus Committee and the Children’s Christmas Tree Fund joined forces for the annual Santa Claus parade and toy giveaway. The event excites children around town each year and ensures that those who might not otherwise have a big Christmas get a few great presents.
Ferriday Junior High School’s Sankari Washington has been chosen as the school’s student of the year. Washington is active in her school, church and community, and we are happy she’s receiving some due recognition.
Walter Maier has been using his talents to create wooden crosses from the damaged spires of St. Mary Basilica, and now his handiwork is in high demand. It’s great to see local craftsmen capture the history of Natchez in their work.
Peggy Norman and her friends on Providence Road provided a light show for all to see this Christmas. Norman coordinates thousands of lights on three houses on the road, and offers an inspiring role model for those seeking to make Natchez a Christmas tourist spot.
Let’s make the last week of 2009 the best one yet.
