NATCHEZ — Services for Matilda E. Young, 75, of Natchez, who died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at her residence, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Roy Tidwell officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

Mrs. Young was born Aug. 14, 1934, in Catahoula Parish, the daughter of John A. Edwards and Rebecca Bird Edwards. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Beth Bradford.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy R. Young; two sons, Jim Young and wife, Gwen, and Danny Young, all of Natchez; one daughter, Kay Young of Birmingham, Ala.; two granddaughters, Taylor Young of Charlotte, N.C., and Noble-Bates Young of Baton Rouge; one grandson, Zach Young of Natchez; and two sisters, Tillie Fuglar of Natchez and Katie Briethup of Jonesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church.
