VIDALIA — Emergency responders responded to a call at the corner of U.S. 84 and Vail Acres Road Friday evening.

The accident happened at approximately 7 p.m.

Witnesses on the scene said a Black Mercedes E320 was apparently pulling out of Vail Acres Road as an eastbound gray Mitsubishi Eclipse was approaching.

The driver of the Eclipse tried to swerve but the two vehicles collided anyway, sending both spinning into the westbound side of U.S. 84, with the E320 stopping in the left westbound lane and the Eclipse stopping in the ditch on the opposite side of the road, facing oncoming traffic, witnesses said.

Both vehicles apparently had a driver and two passengers, witnesses said.

A state trooper on the scene said the accident resulted in serious injuries but did not result in a fatality at the scene.

Names of the victims and further information was not available.
