NATCHEZ — Services for Ethel Wilson Schierholt, 87, formerly of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan, 1, 2010, in Carlsbad, N.M., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Darren Vroman of Victory Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Schierholt was born July 27, 1922, in Eddiston, the daughter of Elmer Henry and Lucy Bowman Wilson. She began school in Eddiston and finished in Meadville. She married Ancel Benjamin Wilson July 13, 1942, and they were married 49 years.

She was always involved in her church where she taught Sunday school and served on the mission board. Ethel moved to Carlsbad in 1991 to be closer to her family. She later married Willis John Schierholt Sept. 21, 1995, in Carlsbad. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing the guitar and singing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and sister, Bell Wilson.

Survivors include her husband, Willis J. Schierholt; one daughter, Mary Ann Fincher and husband, William, of Carlsbad; one son, Dr. Bill Wilson and wife, Dr. Ann Wilson, of Nacogdoches, Texas; six grandchildren, Kim Lucky and husband, Virgil, Kerri Christensen and husband, Sam, Marvin Fincher and wife, Lorena, Brian Wilson and wife, Amy, Bruce Wilson and wife, Charise, and Kevin Phillips and wife, Jennifer; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise Ward of Ridgecrest and Bertie Matthews of Shreveport, La.
