NATCHEZ — Services for Queen Ester Dennis “MaMa” McMorris, 90, of Natchez, who died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.
Mrs. McMorris was born May 8, 1919, in Doloroso, the daughter of Emanuel Dennis and Elsie Shropshire Dennis. She served on the Mother Board.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie McMorris Sr.; and two sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Ethel McCullum of Natchez; three sons, Leroy “Red” McMorris and Wayne McMorris and wife, Cordelia, all of Natchez, and Willie McMorris Jr., of St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, John Dennis of Natchez and Pero Dennis and wife, Dorothy, of St. Louis; six children she reared as her own, Joan Chatman, Queen “Cookie” McMorris, Cassandra Tennessee and husband, Tarvis, Shalanda White and husband, Marcus, and Carlos Chatman, all of Natchez, and Marilyn Brumfield of Jackson; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, Maya Jackson, Malana Tennessee, Malachi White, all of Natchez, and Adrena Brumfield of Jackson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
