NATCHEZ — An 18-year-old Natchez man is being held without bond after being charged with armed robbery Saturday.

Terry Louis Herrington Jr., 530 Cannonsburg Road, allegedly held up a man with a .22 caliber pistol and removed the victim’s wallet from his back pocket, Police Chief Mike Mullins said Monday. The incident occurred in the parking lot of a business on Seargent S. Prentiss Drive around 9:30 p.m.

“(Herrington) then ran and jumped off into a car and left the scene,” Mullins said.

An eyewitness trailed the getaway car downtown, where Herrington exited the car and began walking along Main Street. Officers stopped Herrington, confiscated the pistol and arrested him on site.

Herrington also faces charges of carrying a concealed weapon.

Mullins said the eyewitness deserves credit for the arrest.

“We’re glad the witness was alert, followed the suspect and called us,” Mullins said.
