Valentine’s Day is a time when people celebrate the love they share for others — spouses, friends and relatives. What better way to enjoy this beautiful holiday than to enjoy a special party at Edgewood, the exquisite antebellum home of Lynn and Richard Leet, sponsored by the Natchez Festival of Music as part of its celebration of its 20th anniversary!

This elegant party will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday. Set in the midst of an extensive estate filled with beautiful gardens, Edgewood is located at 31 Airport Road in Natchez.

It’s All About LOVE! features a concert of love songs by George and Penny Hogan, accompanied by Nelda Milligan. George, the artistic director of the Natchez Festival of Music, has been recognized as one of the highly esteemed bass singers in the world, as well as one of the most beloved singers in Natchez.

He and lovely wife, Penny, have been an integral part of the Natchez Festival of Music since its beginnings, when he sang the role of Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha, and they sang Songs of the Rivers in 1992. George and Penny will thrill the audience with their beautiful musical tribute to love.

Adding to the excitement of the evening, Barry Maxwell will serve as the auctioneer for some spectacular items. Several people may want to join together to enjoy these for their families and friends, or to host a party with one of these. Merkel Dupuy of Marksville, La., has offered to come to one’s home or another selected location to provide a Cajun Cochon de Lait for 30 to 40 people. Lani and Ron Riches have offered both a Sunday brunch for 10 and an evening dinner for 8 at Monmouth Plantation. For a very special week’s vacation, Lynn and Richard Leet will provide their large, luxury home in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, which comes complete with every amenity, including a pool, hot tub and staff. Come prepared to bid on these and other special items!

Tickets will include a complimentary glass of champagne or wine, as well as very elegant heavy hors d’oeuvres and sweets. There will also be a cash bar.

Tickets, which are $50 per person or $95 for two, may be purchased through Natchez Pilgrimage Tours in person at Natchez Pilgrimage Tours in the Natchez Visitor Center, online at NatchezPilgrimage.com; or by phone at 601-446-6631 or 800-647-6742. Deadline for ticket reservations is Feb. 12. Arrangements can be made to pick them up at the door.
