Business and civic league hosts dinner

The Natchez Business and Civic League will host its 35th annual awards banquet on Friday, at the Natchez Convention Center.

The program will start at 7 p.m.

This year’s theme is Financial Empowerment: A Blueprint for Success.

Attorney Barbara Blackmon, of the firm Black & Blackmon, PLLC of Canton and the owner of the Natchez Manor, a bed and breakfast in Natchez, will be the guest speaker.

Mrs. Blackmon, a former state senator, is the wife of state Sen. Edward Blackmon.

She has gained recognition for educating her community on asset building, estate planning and tax planning.

Entertainment will be provided by the band Joyful Sound and The Word of Faith Praise Team.

In addition to the guest speaker, awards will be passed out to the man and woman of the year, the Willie S. Scott Award, Youth Award and a special award to a volunteer of the year.

Tickets are available at Carter’s Pavilion, Winn Pharmacy or from business and civic league members.
