Ferriday — Through its Building Health Communities grant program, The Home Depot Foundation has awarded $2,500 to Ferriday Upper Elementary. The donation will be used to Build Pride at Ferriday Upper Elementary for third through fifth grade.

“We are having a new roof put on at the present. Where our students unload buses is an unsightly area,” Principal Cindy Smith said. “The $2,500 gift card from The Home Depot Foundation will allow us to landscape that area with new trees, shrubs and plants. Students unloading and entering the school will be greeted with a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. FUE students will have pride because they will be part of the project’s volunteer team.”

The Home Depot Foundation’s Building Healthy Communities grant program supports the work that local nonprofit organizations, public schools and other organizations are doing to improve the health of neighborhoods.
