Trinity girls fall in Overall quarterfinals

CLINTON — The Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints put a scare into Brookhaven Academy, but the Lady Cougars were able to do just enough in the fourth quarter to pull away and win 58-53 in the quarterfinals of the MAIS Overall Tournament.

The Lady Saints, the No. 2 seed from Class A, and Lady Cougars, No. 2 seed from Class AA, were tied at 39 after three quarters. However, Brookhaven outscored Trinity 19-14 in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Brookhaven will face the No. 1 seed from Class AAA, East Rankin Academy, in the tournament semifinals Friday while Trinity finishes its season with a 24-11 record.

Brandis White led Trinity with 18 points while Bethany Ogden scored 13 and Madelyn Cross tallied 12 to go along with seven rebounds.

Brookhaven was led by Anna Katelynn Mangold with 20 points.
