NATCHEZ — A bright yellow dog with red polka dots is missing, and owner David Gammill wants him home where he belongs.

Burglars stole an iron painted dog statue from Fat Mama’s Tamales, 303 S. Canal St., Sunday, said Gammill, who filed a police report Monday.

The statue, which was located between the restaurant’s patio and parking lot, is 3-feet tall and 3-feet long, Gammill said.

Gammill purchased the statue on the coast approximately 18 months ago, just before Fat Mama’s moved to its current location.

“We thought (the statue) was neat,” Gammill said. “Kids like to pet it and get pictures on it and all that. It’s something unique to Fat Mama’s and we’d like to have it back.”

Gammill said he is not sure if he can replace the statue because the item has grown in popularity and may not be available for purchase. Gammill would not disclose the estimated value of the statue.

In an effort to jog the public’s memory about the statue’s whereabouts, Gammill is offering a $300 gift certificate to Fat Mama’s for information leading to its recovery.

“If you see it in the back of the truck or something, get the tag number, and call us or the police department so we can track it down one way or another,” Gammill said.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Natchez Police Department at 601-445-5565 or Fat Mama’s at 601-442-4548.
