FERRIDAY — The Greater Concordia-Catahoula NAACP Chapter’s annual Elizabeth Davis Black History Parade has been postponed.

The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but has been moved to March 6 so as not to conflict with the Saturday funeral of late Ferriday Alderman Jerome Harris, NAACP President Justin Conner said.

Harris, who died Tuesday, will be considered the honorary grand marshal of the parade when it rolls next Saturday, Conner said.

Despite the postponement, the rest of the details of the parade will remain the same, Conner said.

It will begin at Ferriday Junior High School, located at 201 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, and the entry fee for the parade will be $20.

All parade participants are asked to wear or decorate their cars and floats with things that celebrate President Barack Obama, the New Orleans Saints or black history.

Groups encouraged to participate in the parade include churches, schools, government officials, civic organizations, businesses, fraternities and sororities, and car and motorcycle clubs.
