Monterey man killed in car accident

MONTEREY — A Monterey man died in an early morning accident Friday.
Sandon L. Kemp, 53, was driving a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville northbound on Louisiana 129 when he lost control of the vehicle and exited the roadway to the right, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop E.
After the vehicle left the roadway, it struck a mailbox, at which time Kemp overcorrected and crossed the roadway to the left, leaving the road, colliding with a property line marker, a tree and an embankment.
The vehicle came to final rest on its roof.
The victim was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers responded to the accident at 6:40 a.m., but the exact time of the crash is unknown.
The crash remains under investigation, and routine toxicology tests are pending.
