VIDALIA — Services for Sarah Rose Murray Shumway, 85, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, in Vidalia, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. George Pookkattu and the Rev. David O’Connor officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the church.

Mrs. Shumway was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Natchez, the daughter of George A. and Lillian C. Murray. She was the former co-owner of Universal Appliance Service in Vidalia.

Mrs. Shumway was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Paul Shumway; and one son, Charles Nathaniel Shumway.

Survivors include one daughter, Ruth S. Powers of Natchez; one son, Michael M. Shumway of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Charles A. Powers, Sarah V. Powers, John R. Shumway and Sarah K. Shumway; and devoted caregivers, Carol Hickingbottom and Alisha Pullins.

Pallbearers will be Charles A. Powers, John R. Shumway, Charles Clayton, George C. Murray Jr., Bill Murray and Edwin Beach.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Basilica Capital Campaign, 107 S. Union St., Natchez, MS 39120.
