Pvt. Rijius Woods

NATCHEZ — Services for Pvt. Rijius Sanchez Woods, 18, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, in Fort Jackson, S.C., will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Johnny Quinn officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 1:30 p.m. until service time Sunday at the church.

Pvt. Woods was born April 15, 1991, in Adams County, the son of Nedra Woods Hackett and Eddie Hargraves III. He was a graduate of the Youth Challenge Academy at Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg. He was a private in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandmother, Gloria Bindon and maternal grandfather, Skacy Woods.

Survivors include his mother of Natchez; stepfather, Cecil Hackett of Tyler, Texas; three brothers, Chambliss Woods and Jamie Foster, both of Natchez, and Cory King of Ferriday; one sister, Kimberly Johnson of Natchez; grandparents, Eddie and Doris Hargraves of Vidalia and Henry Pollard and companion, Lillian Campbell, both of Natchez; maternal great-grandmother, Vearline Gaylor and maternal great-grandfather, Dorsey Harris, both of Natchez; five uncles, Stacey Woods and Casey Woods, both of Natchez, Robert Hargraves and Edwin Hargraves, both of Vidalia, and Mizell Noble of Dallas; two aunts, Gloria McKnight and husband, Calvin, and Jamie Hargraves, all of Natchez; godparents, Tammy Davis and Joe Wallace, both of Natchez; godbrother, Anthony Johnson of Natchez; three godsisters, Sierra Johnson, Latara Davis and Ashley Barnes; special friend, Brad Lott of Tyler; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
