WATERPROOF — Services for the Rev. Thomas Carter, 59, of Baton Rouge, formerly of Waterproof, who died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cypress Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.
Burial will follow at Myrtle Grove Cemetery in Waterproof under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Rev. Carter was born June 27, 1950, in Monroe, La., the son of Thomas Brown and Emma Lee Carter Brown. He was employed by the State of Louisiana as a youth counselor.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his mother of Waterproof; three sons, Thomas Carter Jr. and Javonta Vanders, both of Baton Rouge, and Matthew Dawson of Woodville; three daughters, Crystal Nelson of Walker, La., Narkita Jackson of Baton Rouge and Allison Dawson of Woodville; one brother, Willie Carter and wife, JoAnn, of Chicago; three sisters, Patricia Richard and husband, Willie, of Las Vegas, Vallrena Taylor of Kenner, La., and Yvonne Brown of Lake Providence, La.; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
