Last week was a busy, but good, one

What a busy weekend we’ve just completed.

Kites flew over Vidalia as a part of the U.S. Census’ promotional kite day.

Kickball left many adults with sore muscles after Saturday’s Kick for a Cause to benefit the Guardian Shelter.

And Ferriday has a fresh, clean, face after the garden club’s community cleanup day.

But the good news goes deeper than our tired bodies. Let’s review a few other good things that happened last week.

4 Jerry Douglas, a resident at Crown Health and Rehab turned 106 this week. Douglas gives credit where credit is due when it comes to his age — God is in control.

Happy Birthday Mr. Douglas.

4 The Krewe of Killarney marched Wednesday in its annual St. Patrick’s Day parade. The krewe does more than paint the city green though. The group raises money for Pleasant Acre Day School, Holy Family School and scholarships awarded to area students bound for college.

4 Dylan White, the student president of the St. Mary Catholic Youth Organization, spent a bit of his spring break working for others. White and friends sold jambalaya dinners to raise money for a mission trip.

4 Work is done on Ferriday’s much-needed new water tank. The boil-water notice isn’t over yet, but the end is certainly near.

4 The Armstrong Library is under construction. Work to replace carpet and do some touch-up painting began last weekend and continues today. The library is still closed, but the work is overdue and we are glad to see the renovations.

As we celebrate the first full week of spring, we know the great news will keep coming.
