NATCHEZ — Services for Walter Curtis Stephens Sr., 81, of Natchez, who died Monday, March 22, 2010, in Natchez, will be at 3 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with the Rev. Doug Broom officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Stephens was born July 4, 1928, in Webster County, the son of Walter Elijah Stephens and Mamie Lee Burton Stephens. He was a member of Natchez First Baptist Church. Mr. Stephens was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War as a member of the 505th MP Company. He retired from B.F. Goodrich Tire with 15 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Billy Joe Stephens; and one sister, Mozelle Stephens Prewitt.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lois Miller Stephens; one daughter, Debbie Stephens Fuller and husband, Kendall “Kim” Fuller; two sons, Walter Curtis “Sonny” Stephens Jr. and wife, Becky Brown Stephens and Robert Wade Stephens and wife, Kim Dykes Stephens, all of Natchez; seven grandchildren, Sandy Stephens Cunningham and husband, Tim, of Brookhaven, Brad Stephens and fiancée, Kerri Abbott, both of Monroe, La., Lori Ann Fuller of Birmingham, Ala., Taylor Jordan, Whitney Roberts, Kelsey Stephens and Sara Beth Fuller, all of Natchez; three great-grandchildren, Conner Cunningham, Carson Cunningham, both of Brookhaven, and Madison Greene of Natchez; one brother, Loye Stephens and wife, Amy, of Eupora; two sisters, Dorothy Stephens Ray of Eupora and Corine Stephens Williams of California.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
