I have had the privilege of being involved for the past 17 years in the largest Easter egg hunt in the area.

This year, we are celebrating the 52nd year for this great community event. It continues to be the most popular event of the year.

After my father, P.K. Ewing Jr. at WMIS Radio did this event and then Jim and Diana Nutter and Family at WTYJ/WMIS continued this yearly egg hunt. I took over the egg hunt about 17 years ago and have enjoyed watching it grow into the biggest and best Easter egg hunt for many miles.

With the help of Ralph Tedder and the Natchez Recreation Department, Clark Feiser and the Natchez Retiree Partnership, this egg hunt will have thousands of eggs and more prizes than ever before.

Each egg will have candy or special numbers that will receive prizes. Thanks again to many area businesses such as The River 107.1, The Gator 104.7, WTYJ/WMIS Radio, Gary Small and McDonald’s and many others.

This event would not be the huge success that it is today without the many merchants’ generous support. It is greatly appreciated.

Jelly Bean — our official mascot — will be on hand to pass out candy and prizes to the kids. In a day and time when family events are few and far between, I take pride in being able to continue this event for the families of the Miss-Lou.

The ages this year for the hunt will be from 1 to 8. So at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3, load the children in the car and don’t forget the Easter baskets. Come to Duncan Park.

Everyone is invited, and children ages 1 to 8 are welcome to hunt eggs for free.
