Ferriday festival no rainy night

Published 12:00 am Friday, April 2, 2010

It won’t have to be a rainy night for Ferriday to feel “alright” Saturday.

The town, and the music lovers who will flock to it, will feel alright when they induct Tony Joe White, the author of “Rainy Night in Georgia,” into the Delta Music Museum Hall of Fame.

The Delta Music Festival is a highlight of Ferriday each year. Months of organization, preparation and ideas have gone into this year’s event.

Music will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 2:45 p.m. After a brief induction ceremony, White will take the stage.

Admission is just $3, and food, games and other attractions will be on site, too.

In recent years Ferriday has stepped up promotion of its famous musical roots. The Delta Music Museum offers fantastic exhibits, and the addition of the new Arcade Theatre is a true plus to the town.

Music is a part of Ferriday all year long, but on festival day each year the town truly rolls out the red carpet for music fans.

If you’ve never been to the Delta Music Festival, you’ve missed out. If you are a regular attendee, we know you’ll be headed back Saturday.

Just don’t forget your figurative —and perhaps literal —umbrella.
