NATCHEZ — The new traffic light on John R. Junkin Drive just before the recently redesigned intersection with U.S. 84 will be activated Monday.

The light is currently blinking yellow.

The traffic light will only turn red when a vehicle is exiting the frontage road that leads to Natchez Regional Medical Center.

Once the vehicle exits the intersection, the light will turn green again.

Mississippi Department of Transportation Engineer Jim Eggleston said drivers need to be aware that the light may be red.

The new traffic light is part of the design of the continuous flow intersection that opened in December.

Some paving work, striping and landscaping remains in the area, but the project is nearing completion.
