BASTROP, La. — A Masonic graveside service for Carl Fogelsong Reed Jr., 87, who died March 29, 2010, was Wednesday, March 31, at the Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop, La.
Mr. Reed was born in Bastrop on Oct. 11, 1922, the son of Carl Foglesong Reed Sr. and Rosa Mizell Reed.
He graduated from Bastrop High School and attended Louisiana Tech University and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in New Guinea, the Philippines and Australia. He also served in the Korean War and retired in 1967.
Mr. Reed retired from International Paper after 43 years.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Fleet Reserve and a past member of the Blue Lodge of Vidalia, Ferriday Royal Arch and Commandry, Shrine Club of Natchez and the Wahabi Temple of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Estelle Nooyen Reed and one sister, Dorothy Reed Dowling.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Parent Reed of Natchez; one brother, A.W. Reed and wife Sandy of Kentwood, La. and a number of nieces and nephews.
