NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was injured Thursday night when the vehicle he was driving was struck by gunfire on Magnolia Street.

Patrick L. Gibson Jr., was passing by Wisteria Street when Gari T. Harris allegedly fired four 12-gauge shotgun shots at Gibson’s white Cadillac Escalade, Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said.

“The shooting stemmed from a dispute about a female,” Mayfield said. “There was a relationship between her and the two guys and there were bad feelings about that.”

Gibson had his window rolled down and was peppered by the birdshot, opening wounds on the left side of his face and shoulder, Mayfield said. Gibson was treated at Natchez Regional Medical Center and was released at 4:30 a.m. Friday.

On location, deputies found a small amount of blood outside the car and more splattered around the driver’s seat. The car was dented by the birdshot, Mayfield said.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies onto the scene on information called in from someone who lives in the neighborhood at 8:28 p.m., and Harris turned himself in on the scene.

Harris, 23, 311 Country Club Drive, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with no bond set.
