NATCHEZ — A Natchez woman was choked and robbed in her home Saturday.

Kenneth Ray Green, 50, came to Renna Huff’s home on Brooklyn Drive because he said Huff owed him money, Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said.

Mayfield said Green allegedly showed up at Huff’s house yelling and threatening to kick the front door in if she did not open it. Mayfield said Huff hid in the bathroom, but Green kicked the front door open, found her in the bathroom and kicked that door open as well.

Green then reportedly grabbed Huff by the throat and hit her over the right side of the head, Mayfield said. Green then dragged Huff by the throat into another room to find her purse, stole $150, and left.

“Green choked Huff until she said she felt like she was going to pass out,” Mayfield said.

When deputies arrived, they advised Huff to file charges when justice court opened Monday morning, which she did, Mayfield said.

Judge Charlie Vess said there was some controversy when Huff tried to file an affidavit. Vess said the bailiff reportedly did not want to do it.

“I have no idea why they wouldn’t sign it,” Vess said. “It isn’t their call to make.

“If an investigator sets it out, I don’t see why there should be a problem.”

Vess said investigators faxed him the report in Georgia, which he signed Monday afternoon, and Green was shortly arrested at Fleming Body Shop on St. Catherine Street.

Green, 168 St. Catherine St., was arrested on charges of burglary and simple assault.

Vess set Green’s bond at $52,000, but Judge Patricia Dunmore reset his bond at $5,000 at arraignment.

Green is out on bond.
