Natchez — The Natchez Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. recently announced its 18th annual Debutante Cotillion , “An Infusion of Poise, Charm, and Intellect.”

Poise, charm and intellect are three fitting words to describe the 12 young ladies who are awaiting their debut into society. The Natchez Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will host their 18th annual Debutante Cotillion on at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 1 at the Natchez City Auditorium. The public is invited to attend. Admission is $10. Tickets may be purchased from members of Natchez Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority or any cotillion participant.

This year’s coterie of debutantes have dedicated many hours of community service as they progressed toward the finale — the Debutante Cotillion. Some of these community service activities include volunteering at the Stewpot and hosting a community-wide Easter egg hunt

Each of the debutantes demonstrates academic excellence, strong morals and values and outstanding service to the community.

Debutante Valyncia D. Alexander, the 17-year-old daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Dan Alexander. Valyncia is a junior at Natchez High School. Her escort is Raymond Williams, the son of Raymond McDonald and Michelle McDonald.

Debutante Kendra G. Brooks, the 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marcellus Brooks. Kendra is a senior at Natchez High School. Her escort is Zachary Carter, the son of Peter Bacon and Angela Carter.

Debutante Raechelle D. Brown, the 17-year-old daughter of Ray and Diane Brown. Raechelle is a junior at Natchez High School. Her escort is Wayne Thompson, the son of Carolyn Oliver and Thomas Oliver.

Debutante Tatyana S. Jarvis, the 17-year-old daughter of Robert and Wyvonna Kettley. Tatyana is a junior at Wilkinson County High School. Her escort is Johnathan Scott, the son of Marie Pitts and Rufus Scott.

Debutante Evangeline S. Jones, the 17-year-old daughter of Charlene White and Emanuel Jones. Evangeline is a junior at Natchez High School. Her escort is Frederick Carter, the son of Elanda Wallace and Frederick Carter Sr.

Debutante India D. Merrick, the 18-year-old daughter of Cassandra Jones and Marvin Merrick. India is a senior at Natchez High School. Her escort is Santarius Pollard, the son of Sheila Evans and Ruben Evans.

Debutante Renada A. Mosby, the 16-year-old daughter of Waldron and Angela Mosby. Renada is a junior at Natchez High School. Her escort is Randy Woods, the son of Katie Woods and the late Randy Woods, Sr.
