Letter carrier food drive is needed

Support of your letter carriers’ food collection day is needed more than ever.

This Saturday, please place a non-perishable food donation by your mailbox before your mail is delivered. Your letter carrier will take it from there.

This area’s National Association of Letter Carriers annual “Stamp Out Hunger” drive collects and distributes your food donations to local agencies which will use them for their charitable missions of helping those who need food.

For instance, the Stewpot will use the food for 250 free meals prepared, served and delivered daily.

Other receiving agencies will use these items in their own way of helping others.

These agencies give away a large amount of food daily. The need is great.

In these hard economic times, more help is needed by more people to put food on the table. At the same time, support for charitable agencies drops.

This year, more than ever, success of this annual collection by letter carriers is important to those in need in Natchez and Adams County.

Everyone in Natchez wants to help feed those who need help; often you just don’t know how.

This is a chance to help. These letter carriers make it easy.

By putting one or more non-perishable food items by your mailbox Saturday, you help this special volunteer effort to “Stamp Out Hunger” in our community.
