Belhaven stuns Lubbock Christian in World Series

LEWISTON, Idaho — The Belhaven Blazers used three solo home runs to stun defending NAIA national champion Lubbock Christian 3-2 in Saturday’s elimination game at the NAIA World Series.

Belhaven got a solo home run from Craig Dean in the second inning and Drew Dillard connected in the third to put the Blazers up 2-0.

After Lubbock Christian tied the score in the sixth inning on a two-run double by Richard Bohlken, the Blazers took the lead for good on Derek Tortorich launched a homer in the eighth inning.

Wade Broyles worked the eighth and ninth innings for his 14th save of the season.

Belhaven will now face either Embry-Riddle or Cumberland at 10:30 a.m. Monday in another elimination game.
