NATCHEZ — Myoshia Dukes doesn’t have a pharmacy degree, but a search of her residence revealed she was allegedly attempting to operate a pharmacy.

Dukes, 33, 422 B Watts Ave., was arrested Friday after a search warrant was executed at her residence by agents from Metro Narcotics task force.

She has been charged with possession of a schedule I controlled substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute while in possession of a weapon within 1,500 feet of a playground, possession of a schedule II controlled substance (Oxycotin) with intent to distribute while in possession of a weapon within 1,500 feet of a playground, possession of a schedule III controlled substance (Lorcet) with intent to distribute while in possession of a weapon within 1,500 feet of a playground, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance (Xanax) with intent to distribute while in possession of a weapon within 1,500 feet of a playground and possession of a schedule V controlled substance (promethazine with codeine) with intent to distribute while in possession of a weapon within 1,500 feet of a playground.

Dukes was leaving the residence when agents arrived, stopped her and returned her to the house.

Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said the arrest was a result of an ongoing investigation of Dukes. Mayfield said it is possible more charges will be added since stolen property was recovered during the search of Dukes’ residence.

“There was close to two pounds of marijuana and large quantities of the other substances,” Mayfield said. “All of it was in quantities for more than personal use.”

The bottle of promethazine with codeine, Mayfield said, appeared to be the type of bottle that would be found at a pharmacy.

“It had been opened and some had been distributed from that bottle,” he said. “It was not the type of bottle that would be labeled for individual use.

Dukes was out of jail on bond from an October felony arrest for the sale of a controlled substance.

She is currently being detained at the Adams County Jail without bond. She will be arraigned Monday.
