VIDALIA — Services for Thelma Davis Brown, 100, of Vidalia, who died Monday, May 31, 2010, at her nephew’s home in Houston, Texas, where she had lived for two years, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Elery officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born May 6, 1910, in Vidalia, the daughter of Thomas Douglas and Eliza Ann White Davis. She was employed as an elementary school teacher for 37 years in Concordia Parish. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a Sunday school teacher and served on the Mother’s Board at Zion Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Brown; all of her siblings; and a special niece, Tommye Mosby.

Survivors include four nephews, Fredric M. Lloyd and wife, Shirley, of Houston, Texas, Carl Baker and wife, Daisy, of Vidalia, Eddie Carter and wife, Rhonda, of Alexandria, La., and Harold Davis of Oakland, Calif.; two nieces, Terrance Broxton of Inglewood, Calif., and Havis Blanchard and husband, Fred, of Oakland, Calif.; godchild, Hazel Green LaMar of New York; other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a number of students she taught during her teaching career.
